Hi! I'm Shrewsbury based photographer Steve Elliott, (also known as Stef! (Don't ask! It involves a lot of other blokes in the same office called Steve & and basic 90’s email technology)). Back in ‘97, after helping a photographer in need I discovered a talent I didn't know I had! Lots of hands on experience and a college course later it became obvious it was more than just an eye for a great photo! Within months I had become a regular contributor to the now sadly defunct UK RockNet, photographing a massive 400 plus bands in under 12 months! That’s what you call a learning curve! I've now been a professional photographer in one way or another for nearly 25 years. Sometimes employed, mostly self-employed. Not only do I love the creative process, but I really enjoy seeing products and projects coming to fruition and seeing how much value it adds to someone else’s project, personal or professional. Adding value is the most important thing you can add creatively with any project. Stunning, well thought out and beautifully crafted images will do just that.
Back in 1998 my images soon started getting noticed and following some careful nurturing from Birmingham photographer Tim Caddick & music journalist Steve Hough, I began my career in earnest, soon working with household names like Status Quo, Uriah Heep, Nazareth & Judas Priest. I still love the buzz of photographing a live act and it is without doubt one of my happy places when I'm in front of a stage with a camera in my hand, even though these days it's short hair and ear defenders firmly in place! I've photographed everything you can think of from Stadium Rock acts, all sorts of Bands, Drag Shows, Freak Shows, Magicians, Theatre Productions, Graduations, Sport, Property, Accident Sites and Injuries and now these days masses of corporate & product work including headshots and estate agency work. It never ceases to amaze me how a decent set of images can add amazing amounts of value to any project.
In 2017 I had my trademark long hair & Ponytail cut off for charity, raising over £1300 for Shropshire based charity Bethphage. The charity helps people of all ages with learning disabilities such as Autism & Downs Syndrome live as normal a life as possible. A cause that is very close to my heart. You can read more about it here. Incase you were wondering, the hair didn't go to waste, it was sent to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that make wigs for kids who've lost their hair through their treatment.
I've had my work published Worldwide in many different formats. From having several pictures in both the Status Quo 40th Anniversary Books, Just Doin' it and Still Doin' it, as well as tour programmes, pictures used in the final credits of a MTv Rockumentary and images used to promote Wildlife Sanctuaries on the other side of the world, my work is always on display, not just here at my website. Quite often a project is just too top secret for a client, and it won’t be shown on my website to keep the competitors off the scent! Although I'm based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, I'm happy to travel all over the UK to work. Even recently in Europe & the Republic of Ireland. For total peace of mind, I'm fully insured, with both Public Liability & Public Indemnity Insurance, all my kit is PAT Tested where needed, something which many other photographers overlook, & I'm more than happy to provide all the certification if you need it. I'm an avid fan of Nikon, and have been for the past 18 years, not that it makes much difference these days with so many good camera systems out there. I also use fully calibrated monitors as part of my digital workflow, to ensure that you, as the customer get the highest possible quality images which are tone perfect! Adding value to a project and seeing it grow is extremely rewarding. I’m more than happy to have you direct your shoot too. You know what your vision is & how you need it to look. Being in based in Shrewsbury is fantastic location wise as it allows me to travel easily all over the country and beyond.
I'd really love the chance to work for you on your project, whether it’s personal or professional. Give me a call & have a chat about I can add that value to your projects & lets book you in!
